The Camels in Egypt and the Thatched Cottage, took many lessons for Barb's students with challenges galore!
Hi, we're Barb & Jo. Welcome to our website. The purpose of our site is to share our knowledge and love of art. Barb is a professional artist with over 20 years of experience in teaching both children and adults. Jo is now an accomplished artist, and together we want to share the experience of being both the "teacher" and the "student".
On our website, you will find information on how to start oil painting for the absolute beginner, as well as great advice and technical know-how for the artist who wants to improve their work.
We also have written easy-to-follow instructional books that are loaded with photographs, where you can learn the tips and techniques involved in producing a great painting. I teach and Jo explains how she translates that information from a student's perspective. We have both the beginner and intermediate series. You can find our books on Amazon and from the Itunes Store
Follow along with barb as she does her paintings. Feel free to give one a go.
If you have any questions about Barb's paintings or lessons, this is the place to go.

Painting Leaves with Strong Highlights
I'm trying to give the leaves in this painting a strong, translucent glow. To do this, the highlights need to be fairly strong and clean - straight from the tube even. For the green highlights, I'm using Chrome Green and the yellows are Cadmium Yellow. Don't over-use your white as this washes the colours out.

ART IN THE MAKING
The frangipani, a classic flower, can make quite an impact when painted against a lovely, soft background. Jo and I have chosen a few random flowers as our reference material and had fun arranging them in our own individual way.
